The Point Resort

Summer/Fall Activities

Long a recreational paradise, the Adirondack wilderness beckons all to explore its shimmering lakes and cascading streams, its vast timberlands where wildlife abounds and its soaring mountains with views clear to Canada. Set amidst this spectacular scenery, The Point's extensive array of activities makes it possible to enjoy the Adirondacks to the utmost.

ACTIVITIES

Water skiing, lake swimming, tennis, sunset cocktail cruises, picnics, volleyball, backyard croquet, horseshoes, badminton.

HIKING

Enjoy hiking at all levels, from walking The Point property to ascending nearby Ampersand Mountain. There are numerous trails for walking and hiking within a short boat ride or drive from The Point.

FISHING

Some of the best fishing in the country is to be found in the Adirondack Mountains. More than 2,500 lakes, streams and ponds contain trout, land-locked salmon, bass and pike, to name a few. We provide fishing gear and small outboards for fishing on Upper Saranac, or you may hire an Adirondack guide to take you elsewhere.

BICYCLING

Take one of our mountain bikes and head off down the dirt road to explore nearby camps, or choose one of the many hiking trails for a more challenging outing.

BOATING

Our fleet of boats includes sea kayaks, canoes, small outboards, as well as a 33-foot classic mohogany Hackercraft and a 32-foot ELCO electric launch. (All large power boats must be piloted by a staff member.)

CAMPING

Go camping in the Adirondack wilderness, then stay for a few days at The Point. What a way to end a great camping trip - the way the Rockefellers used to "camp."

GOLF

Guests of The Point can enjoy a complimentary round of golf at the beautifully maintained 18-hole golf course at Saranac Inn, located less than four miles from The Point. This course was one of the founding courses on the PGA tour in the 1920s. Be sure to have a tee-time booked when you make your reservations.

HORSEBACK RIDING

Emerald Springs and XTC Ranch are eight miles away, both offering horseback riding and other summer activities.

ADIRONDACK INTERPRETIVE CENTER AT PAUL SMITHS

Nature trails and educational exhibits on the Adirondacks, and regularly scheduled special events.

ADIRONDACK MUSEUM AT BLUE MOUNTAIN LAKE

One of the finest regional museums in the country. A one-hour drive from The Point.

FOLIAGE/LEAF TOURS

The Adirondack region is among the most spectacular for its autumn colors. Numerous drives through the mountains show off the vivid reds, yellows and oranges. Or take a canoe onto Upper Saranac and enjoy the foliage, which is breathtaking in September and October.
